[Proposal] Drop VC90 support
Post: #31
the thing is: even though cmake is superior to autohell on *nix, it still sucks compared to proper VC solution files.

As long as the amount of required work for shipping the vc files manually is not too much, we simply should not drop a working way in favor of something not (properly) working.

Iam almost sure you are wrong, a good cmake dev can do a perfect job nowadays to produce a VS file "exactly" like we want and with the benefit to be compatible with lot of OS/compiler.
The only reason that realy scaring me is that bunch of code will need to be also maintained. So its not a "one time" work an in case of we swiched to that system it will be mandatory.

A good multiplatform/multicompiler project MUST work with a single way to generate project files.

Anyway this discution already occured and probably will another time in future. So as i said i need a real CMAKE devs that could take the challenge and show us the real power of cmake then we could decide more easly what we can/can't do.

I have nothing against cmake, but keeping the VS files on with the project doesn't hurt and helps a lot from the development perspective, especially since almost everyone uses a windows machine for development.

Just a quick example (not sure if relevant): on mangosR2 many devs decided to leave the project because the team lead decided to drop support for VS.
