The Burning Crusade Windows_Install_Script.bat issue
Post: #11
That's good you worked it out.

The error 1054 you encountered is the version checking mechanism used by the DB updates telling you that the current DB is not in the expected version that the particular update is designed to go on-top of.

Did you try the Windows_Install_Script.bat again after fixing the authentication issue? I've never used it since I don't run my TBC server on Windows, but I understand it can take care of all the DB install and updates for you...

If not, have a look at this thread for some tips on doing it manually:

Dude! I am getting soooo close now!! Working with what you have provided, the script works after I manually create the Mangos DB user as well as the Mangos, Realmd, and Characters DBs. I ran the installer script and selected option 1. It worked! I am now able to launch both mangosd.exe and realmd.exe. The problem I am having now is the client doesn't let me login.

I have checked the realmd DB table and the IP is correct. The IP is also correct on my realmlist.wtf on the client. Its weird because Classic worked no problem. The 2 server processes are running. Any thoughts on what this could be?

Nearly there...

There might be some clues in the output of realmd.exe and mangosd.exe if you start them from command prompts.

Have a look under https://github.com/cmangos/issues/wiki/F...-Questions if you haven't already.

Other things to check that aren't mentioned in the FAQ could be:
- the Windows Firewall, if in use, or other firewall/router on your network if your client and server are not in the same subnet
- confirm that the IP address you set in the DB and realmlist.wtf is still the same one as the server is currently using (in case DHCP is in use on your LAN)
- [edit: actually this is mentioned in the FAQ] with mangosd.exe and realmd.exe NOT running, confirm that there are no other processes on your system owning their ports. If using the default ports, the following commands should each return NO results (and should return at least a line with LISTENING whenever your server is running normally):
Code:
netstat -na | findstr "8085"
netstat -na | findstr "3724"

Buddy! Thanks for all your help! It turned out that the client I was using was the issue. I downloaded a different 2.4.3 client and I'm in!! I can;t thank you enough for all your help!!! One last thing if possible, I'm not sure if you caught my playerbot issue from a few posts back? That is the only remaining issue I am having.

If you have any thoughts on that it would be fantastic!!!

You're welcome - I'm glad you're up and running. You have your own server up and running now... it's a good milestone but maybe just the start of your learning experience :-)

Sorry I can't offer any help specific to Playerbot or that merge conflict. Perhaps someone else can, or you could jump right in and try figuring out where the code needs massaging.
